In March of 2020, seniors at the St. Albans all-boys
school in Washington, DC were sent home to finish
school remotely. They could not graduate in-person
at the Washington National Cathedral across the street,
as they would have in a normal year.
For the 73 students who graduated, the team at DOSU designed and
built this glass and steel installation. The paddles inside
each of the globes activate in response to the sun,
which rotate along pivot points to ring neighboring
globes. Symbolically, this was meant to represent the
poetic metaphor of the boys as they relied on each
other during their time at St. Albans and in their
journeys ahead. (Doris Sung, Esther Ho, Danny Yoo, Ryan Chang)
